  • I am the owner of Game on State In Media and the founder and executive director of Aneway for Purpose, a non-profit whose mission is to employ adults with disabilities. Girl Friday Assistants have helped me from day one. Whether they were helping me organize and set up our retail store, creating a closet system to hold our 350 different candies, or creating a masterpiece island display, they did everything with detailed care and a smile. For our inaugural gala this past October, Girl Friday Assistants donated their time to create beautiful floral centerpieces. In addition, they created a customized candy bar, where our guests could enjoy some sweets on their way out. They even found a way to include our participants with disabilities with the preparation, making the process even sweeter. As a small business owner, I am so grateful that I can call upon Girl Friday Assistants to use their amazing skills to not only enhance my store, but to make my life a little easier along the way. An added bonus is that women owned businesses are supporting and helping one another succeed.

  • It simply doesn’t get better than Vickie McGowan! My dog is SUCH a Momma’s boy, but the few times we’ve visited PA and needed a sitter? OMG! He is CRAZY about her! She is super responsible, asks where the dog’s food and snacks are and what’s your policy, along with next time he should be walked. She takes any toys and PLAYS with him. And please don’t get me started about her volunteer photography! All told, she makes me wish we lived in PA!

  • When my daughter asked us to host her wedding celebration at our house, where she was born and raised, we knew it was going to require a lot of help, especially with over 200 family and friends on the invitation list. So when Desiree put the call for help out to Vickie, our anxiety immediately disappeared. From day one, Vickie really listened to every request. The days leading up to the big day were hectic, but with Vickie’s hands on approach and attention to detail, everything went smoothly.   • I have known and worked with Vickie for about eight years. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she is. She is reliable, capable, organized, and takes initiative. We have fully trusted her with taking care of our pets, our home, and most importantly in babysitting for our grandchildren. When it came to pet sitting, she took care of our dogs, chickens and bird. I often got a text message from her when there was a concern or just to tell me how they were doing. She has helped us with home organization, especially in our garage. She clearly understands how to balance her ideas with the things that we want to do. She has always come up with great organization tips. Both of our grandsons love her- she engages beautifully with them! When I say she takes initiative, when we would arrive home after she was babysitting, we would find that she had cleaned up the toys. Vickie has also helped us with gardening and I’m always amazed at her attention to detail there as well. It’s unusual to work with someone over the years and find that you respect them and like them so much that you call them a friend. I never hesitate to recommend Vickie’s services to any of my friends.

  • I've been thrilled to know Vickie for the past 3 years! I first called her when I had a ruptured disc. She was invaluable- she helped weed, transplant perennials, move a rug and some furniture. She helped out at several large holiday parties and/or family events by greeting guests, hanging their coats (and then retrieving them at the end of the event), assisting with the catering trays and food platters by displaying them creatively, keeping an eye out for trays that needed replenishing as well as plates and cups that needed throwing out. She intuitively seemed to know precisely what was needed and showed the initiative to get it done.
